A Message from Amigos President & CEO Miguel Figueroa
Our upcoming Amigos Member Conference (May 14, 2025) marks a ceremonial end to the 2024-25 membership year. We will review some of the accomplishments of the year and look ahead during our Member Business Meeting. But right now, I would like to highlight just a few of the changes in practice that I think have helped us engage more directly with you, our members. Our Board of Directors has implemented a small change in practice that moves our quarterly meetings around our region. This has allowed us to meet and tour member libraries and connect more directly with staff and leadership. Our Member Discount Services and Technology Solutions teams have implemented focus groups and designed surveys to more actively include member voices in our future directions. More and more of our continuing education sessions are led by experts from our member libraries – and the Continuing Education Services team has more changes planned to make our learning more accessible and available. We continue to invest in our technology – a new website, new registration system, new courier labeling service, and more – that prioritize convenience and ease for our members.
There is, always, more work to do – especially in the current climate. But I hope we can continue to work together to sustain our shared services and build new opportunities. Please reach out at membership@amigos.org or email me directly at figueroa@amigos.org to talk more about how Amigos can partner with your library.
