A Message from Amigos President & CEO Miguel Figueroa Happy National Library Week 2024 (April 7 - 13)! National Library Week sets us into the full swing of spring - as we prepare to join many of our Amigos member colleagues at the Texas Library Association Annual Conference later this month in San Antonio and look ahead to our own Amigos Member Conference on May 15. We are also quickly preparing for our Annual Member Business Meeting and Board of Directors elections, both important pieces of keeping our organization member-led and member-centered. Through these and other opportunities, we are excited to share more about the work that is happening at Amigos and to hear about how Amigos can support your library's priorities. Amigos Welcomes Gwendolyn Prellwitz as CES Manager Amigos Library Services is pleased to welcome Gwendolyn Prellwitz as our new Continuing Education Services (CES) Manager. Amigos' CES team coordinates a full schedule of online workshops, free Know & Go sessions for member libraries, our popular Online Conferences, and customized on-request trainings for libraries and organizations. Gwendolyn has already begun working with member instructors to support new offerings and improved learner experiences.
Gwendolyn brings over 20 years' experience working in library member organizations, having worked in the American Library Association's (ALA) Office for Diversity, Literacy & Outreach Services (ODLOS), supporting the Spectrum Scholarship Program and other diversity-focused recruitment efforts. Controlled Digital Lending Recommended Practice Draft from NISO Out for Public Comment The National Information Standards Organization (NISO) announced that its draft Interoperable System of Controlled Digital Lending Recommended Practice is now available for public comment through April 21 at the project website. All members of the information community are invited to review and share feedback.
